Champions League Final In Istanbul

A few months ago, when the final match of the Champions League was decided to be played in Istanbul, noone including me has thought there will be so much rage and enthusiasm in Istanbul Streets. Liverpool fans have arrived Istanbul days before the final and with the clocking ticking down to kick-off, they filled a number of bars in Taksim and belted out their favourite anthems all over Istanbul Streets, while we -Turkish People- gathered to watch, seeming amused at the spectacle.

And after beating AC Milan 3-2 in penalty shootout on Wed Night, thousands of delirious fans were lined the streets to celebrate the victory and partied into the night in Taksim. Although Turkish People were known to be merry and enthusiastic, Liverpool fans were too far to compare with us. Congratulations Liverpool, congratulations for a great game!

Pictures from the Last Conference

The conference started with the celebration of May 19th, Ataturk Commemoration, Youth and Sports Festival . Everyone was holding flags in their hands and singing the national anthem in chorus..

first day

A similar enthusiasm was seen during the "80s party" at first night..

80s

Those who don't know me, I am the one looks like the most "80s party girl"; the one on the left.. The others are Ozlem, Ozge and Pinar.. Turkish MC Girls..

What's going on with the MC Team?

altogether

???

There was not only fun, serious meetings were also held during the congress..

Membership Criteria Meeting with AIESEC Izmir..

MC Team of AIESEC in Turkey

member committee

What can be said for 04-05 term of AIESEC in Turkey is that the past year has been an unprecedented achievement for us by the implementation of substantial changes that produced stupendous results. Our talented and resourceful members and their unwavering determination were able to elevate AIESEC Turkey and ensure a clear path to a progressive future. I believe this is the legacy of the current Turkish MC team seen above.

And what we heard in the closing plenary was too flattering for all of us : "The team who had marked an era in AIESEC Turkey History with the great changes, unprecedented achievements and outstanding results."

So saying "Goodbye" is getting even more difficult..

50th National Conference

May 19th - 22nd.. AIESEC Turkey's 50th National Conference...

It was my last and one of the best congresses in AIESEC... 200 newies, 80 incoming EB members, 80 current EB Members, 10 trainees, 30 SNs, 10 alumni and full of fun, joy, sorrow, goodbye..

The end is the beginning is the end is..

It started in October,2000 and now unfortunately and incredibly is coming to an end. 5 years full of hardwork, successes, failures and memories in "AIESEC in Turkey" are becoming just a part of the past.

The 50th National Congress was my last national AIESEC congress in Turkey, doubtlessly one of the most special ones. Unlike the other conferences the only thing I cared about was to have fun and spend 4 unforgettable days with the closest friends. I felt the same for everyone; everyone was different somehow and it seemed they were trying to get all the pleasure they can get out of the congress as well. Thanks all the AIESECers in Turkey for letting me have such a great final and as I told in my closing speech : "Thanks AIESEC Turkey for giving me the best gift of my life"

So far, the melancholy I felt for Turkey hindered the excitement I had for Australia but as we had cried, saddened and bewailed enough for the past, it is time to get excited for a new life waiting ahead... So we'll see, it will be a great year
"in$allah"

Birthday Gift

For the first time in my life, on my 23rd birthday, I decided to give myself a birthday present and start this new blog. Although I have insisted too much not to do this, I have to admit that it is the best way to show and share the melancholy of the last days in Istanbul and the excitement of a new life in Sydney... So here it comes..
Happy Bday Tugba! Happy Bday my new blog!
